I am told by both Sky and BT that my landline is not available for porting. Something to do with area compatibility. How do I get Virgin to release my number. I don't want to change numbers after years

Hi @Geoff350
Thanks for posting on our community forum and sorry to hear about the issue with your port.
If you put in a port request with the provider you're looking to take your number to we would release this to them if possible. We cannot just 'release' the number as such, this would just mean it is fully disconnected.

The request has been denied

Hi @Geoff350
Thanks for your post!
Sorry to hear about that, when the other provider advised this was down to 'Area Compatability' - did they provide any further information regarding the number port?

Hi Travis. The suggestion was that I live in the West Midlands but I was set up in Area 05 which is in the south west. I don't really understand as I thought numbers were national. I don't know why I was set up like that apart from that is where the engineer usually worked.

Hi @Geoff350
Thanks for your post!
I've double checked this with our team and everything on our system is absolutely fine and the number is ready to port out if the provider you're going to requests this through us. I'd suggest you go back to BT around this as it is all good to go on our side.

Hi Travis less than 35 minutes ago Sky requested the porting of my number 01386333313 and were refused. Message was 'number not available for porting'. I've spent over 4 hours on the phone, the promised callback didn't happen. Getting very frustrated. I must ask you to look beyond the obvious if you can.
