For some historic reason, I have two VM cables coming into my house (or one cable with a split for phone/tv and internet).
The line for the phone and TV comes into my sitting room at the front of the house and that is where the phone socket and TV are.
The data cable snakes round the side of the house to a separate (external) part of my house where it terminates at the hub. Hub is set up in modem mode and is connected to my set of in-house servers.
My V6 TV box connects to the internet via a fixed CAT 5 cable.
I've been told that my phone service will switch over on the 7th December.
From what I can see, I will have no practical way to connect my hone to the router after this date.
I cannot use a cordless phone with the base station beside the hub as the distance (and thick walls) prevent the signal from going through the house.
I'm now considering just dumping the phone part of my contract as I don't see any way to use the phone line.
Can anyone suggest an alternative?
Thanks
Dave

Hey @DaveMacRae,
Welcome to the community and thanks for taking the time to post your question here on the forums.
We can arrange for extensions to be added to your home to help with your phones connections to your hub, as this is part of the phone changeover, we would be able to do this free of charge as there is usually a £25 charge for non-fault related call outs.
If you'd like me to arrange that for you, I can but if you wish to remove the phone package from your account, you would need to call in to have that removed as we are unable to process any package changes. Please be aware that removing the landline service could increase your package price as it could be part of a bundle and removing any part of the bundle could remove any discounts from your account.

The phone switchover is a UK wide migration that involves all current landlines, so there is no alternative going forward.
As per the post above, you can have your existing phones wired via the existing master socket to your hub by VM at no additional cost.
I would also point out that your landline attracts a huge discount on the rest of your package. If you remove it the cost of your Broadband will increase.

Hi @DaveMacRae,
Thank you for getting back to me so promptly via private message. As we discussed there, a technician appointment has now been scheduled and booked to assist you with this.
I'm unable to confirm the date/time of the booking publicly for security reasons, but you can manage and reschedule the appointment if needed via your My Virgin Media online account.
