Phone self set up issue

I've set up an account for broadband, tv and phone over a year ago but have never needed the phone until now. I've tried plugging the phone into a vigin branded box on the wall (with/without a microfilter) and into the TEL1/2 sockets on the hub but cannot get a dial tone either way.

Is it possibly the line hasn't been activated?

Re: Phone self set up issue

Hi, the phone line may be in the back of your hub.
the top 2 ports are for phone lines. This is called 21CV

There should be a little adapter sticking out to enable you to connect a phone.

Re: Phone self set up issue

Thanks, I did try both these ports, although I don't have an adapter, I just used a cable which fits. Still no joy

Re: Phone self set up issue

Incidentally I just tried calling my home number as found on my bill (from my mobile) and it sounds as if it is ringing - not a dead line or invalid number
