Phone not working

Joining in

Landline switched to hub last month, initially worked. Now the phone is saying "check landline" and is not working. Have tried rebooting hub and plugging/unplugging cable into both phone ports. Sometimes phone connects but dialling tone is very crackly and calls still cannot be made or received and then it just goes dead again and the check line message reappears. All other services are working fine. No reported faults in our area. Any help please?
