Hi my sister who speaks to virgin on my dad's behalf. Phoned them the other day to ask about getting a phone line(he currently only has tv) but she was told he would have to take internet as in his area they now only do phone through hubs. Surely this can't be true? He's 74 and has no need for internet and doesn't want leave as he enjoys free BT sport.
Most areas are now migrating over to a VOIP telephone service which runs through the hub. If you live in one of these areas then that is the only option. The traditional master socket connections are being phased out for VOIP. While there are lots of customers on the old system, this is not an option for new phone instalations in VOIP areas.
