Phone line not working "line cord error" and no dial tone

We've not had a telephone service for weeks; I thought it was the phone that was broken, but I've just tried a new one and it's the same result.

I have no dial tone, if I try to make an outgoing call, I get "line cord error, please check".

If someone dials in, the person calling doesn't see when I've picked up, and there is no usable connection, just a horrible rasping noise.

Can't phone up to complain because I have no dial tone.

Can't use the VirginMedia website to complain, it just sends me round in circles.

Does anyone have an email address or the URL for a chat function I can use?

Re: Phone line not working "line cord error" and no dial tone

I will ask for this to be raised for follow up, can you confirm if the phone plugs into a wall socket or into the Virgin Hub 3?

If I've helped please let me know 🙂 Matt

Re: Phone line not working "line cord error" and no dial tone

Hello rwillmer

Sorry to hear about the issue with your line
I am more than happy to take a look at this for you
I will need to send you a private message to pass security
If you can check the purple envelope top right of your screen that would be great
Regards

Re: Phone line not working "line cord error" and no dial tone

Problem sorted, with a VM visit and a bit of reconfiguration.

Once I'd found the right way to raise the issue (which turned out to be here), it all got resolved very quickly.

It really isn't clear from the VM website that this is an official method of obtaining support; I'd suggest they make it clearer :

  1. that you can get official support here
  2. how to tell an official VM rep from anyone else (because once they start asking for passwords, you need to know that!)

Thanks for your help, Gareth
