Phone indicates answer phone message but there isnt one?

Hello there,

Whenever we pick up our landline phones we get the broken dial tone which usually indicates that there is an answer phone message.

However when we dial to listen to the voicemail there isn't one? This has never been a problem before.

So my elderly mother is calling up the answer phone system concerned she's missed a message and as far as i can see there isnt one.

Any ideas? Thanks all!

I will say personally I have never heard of a broken dial tone leading as an indicator for a voicemail message - how long has that been the case for? Have you tried the standard unplug and plug back in etc? Other than the broken dial tone - is there any other indication of a message?

Whenever we hear the broken dial tone thats always been the sign for us to check the voicemail! Once we cleared the voicemail it'd go back to a standard dial tone haha maybe we've got it wrong all these years.

yep we've done the standard unplug and wait and then plug back in again!
