Our landline is not ringing when we are called - the caller hears the ringtone but we do not. If we pickup the phone we connect to the call but have no way of knowing that someone is calling us. Plugged into master socket and have tried alternativ corded handset direct to the socket

Have you just recently switched over to a phone connection via the VM hub?

Hi,
I too have the same issue. I have switched home phone connection to the VM Hub today (12th April). When I ring my home phone from my mobile i can hear ringing on my mobile, but the home phone itself does not ring. Like the other subscriber, if I pick up the home phone while the mobile is still ringing, a call connection is made, and on my home phone I can hear my own voice speaking through my mobile. I do not think there is anything wrong with my home phone, as all was working fine yesterday.
Please help.
Adrian

What sort of age is the phone?
Phones from the early 2000s and before may need an adapter with a 'ringing capacitor' inside to generate the ringing sound.

I have to confess that it is a very old phone that might well date back to the early 2000s if not before. Do you really think this could be the cause, because as I say yesterday it was working fine with the old connection?

Quite likely. It is a common problem reported on here. For the purposes of a test ...
Do you happen to have an old ADSL microfilter laying around in a drawer at home somewhere (the type of adapter one had to connect to each phone socket in the days when ADSL was in common use)?
If so, try connecting that between the VM adapter and the phone (Hub>>VM phone adapter>>ADSL adapter>>Telephone)
The ADSL adapter contains the ringing capacitor. If the phone then rings, that is likely to be your problem.
If it works, you can get a replacement adapter with the ringing capacitor in
If the test with the ADSL filter works, you could consider a substative replacement via ...
Some people have reported success by replacing the VM adapter with this below (it is a generic device, other suppliers are available, 'RJ11 plug to BT socket adapter with ringing capacitor')
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/393200143905
No guarantees it will solve your problem though so keep that in mind if you decide to buy.
Alternatively, consider buying some new phones.
VM imagines that most people will now be using cordless phones, with the cordless base station plugged in to the back of the VM hub and cordless handsets used around the home where required.
