Phone connected via hub

I have recently moved and taken VM services with me, I have 100mb broadband and talk more anytime telephone.

In my old property the telephone was connected via a regular wall telephone socket but in my new home it has been plugged into my wifi hub.

Does this mean the telephone runs off my internet connection? Why do I pay for a landline if it is via the hub and not a dedicated telephone line??

Any help would be appreciated.

Re: Phone connected via hub

All phones from all providers are gradually being moved to this type of connection by 2025.

VM call their service 21st century voice (21CV).

The phone service is now carried on the same cable as the VM broadband rather than a separate telephone line.

You are paying for a landline service from VM as you did before, it is just the manner of delivery that has changed.

Re: Phone connected via hub

Hi telbea,

Thanks for your post and it's great to hear your new property has already allowed you to benefit from our new 21CV service.

With how technology is changing, the way we deliver services also need to change to ensure we are providing you with the best possible service.

I can see goslow has linked you to some sites which are well worth a read of. They will give you all the information regarding this switch.
