Day 5. I am an engineer, retired. Checked different phones, extension, and master socket. Two wire system, have continuity to external box. No signal. My neighbour, with BT, also has no signal, overhead line to same box in street. The fault must be there. Paying £69 per month for this rubbish service. Fix it!

I don’t understand. AFAIK, there is no commonality between Virgin Media and BT landline systems, either in the old days of twisted pairs or the new world of landline through the broadband Hub.
You have different issues.
As a Virgin Media customer, have you been advised that your landline service is being (or has been) migrated to connection via your broadband Hub?
