Not receiving incoming calls on my landline, porting issue ?

  • Ive been with Virgin media for many years, suddenly recently im not receiving incoming calls, my phone is ok, i can dial out ok, called Virgin and apparently its a porting issue, said they would get porting department on to this, said would be resolved within 4 hours but it hasnt, why would this happen after so many years, i havent moved recently although i renewed my contract last month, i have noticed on my latest bill my name isnt quite right using cathy instead of catherine, would this matter. How do i resolve this

If you are making outgoing calls then there is a number attached to the line. Try calling your mobile from your landline & see what number comes up. If its diffrent to the one you should have you have got a crossed line & not a porting issue.

Virgin BB TV Landline. Freeview/Freesat HD, Virgin Mobile, Tesco Mobile. Cable customer since 1993

Re: Not receiving incoming calls on my landline, porting issue ?

Hi thanks for the info, i have checked, called my mobile and its my correct number thats coming up, when i spoke to them this morning they said it was a porting issue and would be resolved within 4 hours, i dont understand why this would happen now anyway as ive been with them at least 10 years, had a family funeral today and ive had so many people call me and cant get hold of me, its ridiculous, I really needed this to be resolved, no doubt it will take me hours to get through to them again tomorrow

Re: Not receiving incoming calls on my landline, porting issue ?

Good morning @kittycatsmum

Welcome to the forums and thank you for taking the time to post.

I am sorry to hear that you have had some issues with receiving calls.

I have taken a look over the account and have run though some diagnostics, we are going to need to get a tech out to you so that we can get this resolved.   I have taken the opportunity to book this for you.  You can find the time and date via your online account.

Kind regards,

Zak_M

Re: Not receiving incoming calls on my landline, porting issue ?

Thank you

Zac_M

I just spent 30 mins getting through to them only to have to go through all the testing again, then for to be put on hold again, whilst she spoke to tech apparently and then hung up on after an hour, so frustrating at the moment, so your action is much appreciated
