Not able to receive incoming call

Hi my first post on here, although we have been with Virgin for nearly 15 years no, Suddenly, since there has been a lot of digging in our area (Bevendean, Brighton) we have been having issues with our landline, fisrtly it was crackly and noisy and now when you ring our number it will ring once and the just buzz and we can't answer, we can make outging calls no problem.

Any ideas why this might be?????
