This happened to me recently. I was furious. I complained to VM who didn't believe they had done anything wrong. They said it was all part of the switchover. They couldn't provide me with a copy of the notification they said they sent me (I received nothing)

I went to the Ombudsman who upheld my complaint. I was awarded autocompensation, a good will gesture and a written apology form VM.

I'd urge you to complain if you can.  It sends VM a message that they need to do better, and the Ombudsman is aware of what a shocking level of service they are providing.
