No landline since 18 October

We have been without a landline since 18th October.  We have had numerous visits from Virgin engineers who tell us that their Dax system is old and we are on the Dax system.  Our telephone number came across from BT when we were BT customers before transferring to Virgin and on 3rd December a Virgin engineer came to our home and installed a small device which went into our Router and connected to our landline phone.  he promised that the phone would be working within 48 hours as our problem had been escalated and that we should have the telephone number transferred to Virgin from BT. As at today this has not happened  and we still do not have a landline.       HELP
