My landline has no dialing tone. The message in its window says check line. I have disconnected and reconnected at the socket and checked if there are problems in my local area (there are none).

So sorry to hear you are without a dial tone on your landline. Did you check via the service checker: https://virg.in/servicechecker or by calling 0800 561 0061?
I can see there is currently an outage showing for landline in your area which is due to be fixed by 17:40pm today. Sincerest apologies for any inconvenience caused. If you could please let us know if the issue persists following the end of the outage and we will be able to offer further support.
