No dial tone

Hi,

I currently have no dial tone.

For the last week or so, same problem, no dial tone, run test, test ok, book engineer, dial tone comes back, cancel engineer then the problem comes back and and I book an engineer again.

This is the third time this has happened now in a row.

I have tried another phone and tried through the master socket (faceplate removed) and its exactly the same.

When the problem resolves, nothing is done to make this happen. Sometimes a call will just come through, then I know its working again.

So, should I book an engineer again and not cancel, even if the problem seems fixed again?

Well, phone is working again now.
Although there is some crackling but only now and then.

Sorry to see there has been issues with the phone line. Do you have multiple handsets in your property? If so, do you experience the crackling noise on each one? 

 

If you have more than one land line handset, please remove all devices from the phone line - leaving just the handset in the master socket to see if the cracking continues

Yes, I have a spare phone to test. Cracking on both when it happens.
I have only the main socket with no extensions.
Yesterday the line was fine, no cracking.

Now the line seems completely dead. (yet again).

Hi ievans, I've checked the switch and everything looks fine with the network so it may be a physical problem. I'm going to send you a Private Message so I can grab some details from you and get a tech arranged. Although it's working now, it shouldn't be intermittent or crackly.
