No dial tone - "number cannot be recognised"

There is no dial tone on my landline. BT callers get message "number cannot be recognised".  From my Virgin mobile it says the "number incorrect".  The website check says there is a problem too.

I live in NR6 area.  The number was ported from BT in 2005, if that helps.

Weather foul today so perhaps water has got into the cabinet, though broadband still OK as I type this!

I have a similar issue. Rarely use the home phone but it does connect our monitored intruder and fire alarm to the call centre so this is not currently working. My postcode is BH18 and according to the monitoring company Virgin had a problem yesterday locally with the internet which does seem to be fixed now
