My landline has not been working for two weeks now. First I bought a new phone but same problem, so not phone. Spent a long time going round and round website but did find on forum how to take off front plate of wall socket and insert phone directly into master socket and still not able to make calls so definitely line, not equipment, was problem. Tried to report fault (using mobile) to 150. After a very long wait I spoke to a charming lady with a very quiet voice that was difficult to hear. I explained problem and expected an engineer would be sent. To my surprise she told me I should switch to fibre broadband for phone and plug phone into Hub (when did a router become a Hub?). "OK" I said "but the phone connection is wrong shape?" She said she would send adapter which would take 3 days and explained phone would not work in power cut. I have waited patiently for 8 days now but no sign of adapter and from reading forum no guarantee it would work if I had one.
I have no idea what to do now. Why can't someone just come and fix my land line, as that is what I am paying for and unable to use? Instead I have been fobbed off with the promise of something second rate that hasn't materialised, whilst I pay for something I cant use.
Please tell me what I should do (providing it doesn't involve useless lengthy calls to the Philippines or wherever)?
