New Customer (a day old) - Can make calls but cant receive them

Hi there,

I recenly moved from Sky > Virgin (line all went in yesterday), and unfortunally the home phone dosnt seem to want to recieve calls. It makes calls out just fine (plus when i do it shows the moved number).

I've tried 2 different handsets, and unfortunately it seems to be the same on both.

I've tried the server test in the browser, and it shows the following

the phone is all connected fine, and dial tone is all good.

I have reported this to Customer Support, but they havent got back to me yet. I was curious if anyone else has had this? Anyone got any tips for resolution? I`m hoping it's not going to be a "We have to send an engineer job" as they were only here yesterday haha.

If you ring the landline and pick up the landline does it answer?

I`m afraid not. It's like a "one-way" telephone line at the mo 🙂 only out going calls.

Did you get a new number from VM or did you port your number over from Sky?

Virgin moved the number (I can see its the same when I use the home phone to call my mobile so thats good).

The image is from the "Service Status" Test you can do on the home phone. Which is currently showing this message :

"
Looks like there's no phone connected
Our test indicates that there's no phone connected to its dock. This is not necessarily a fault, as some modern devices can look like this during tests.

It might sort itself out in a few days, its not a technical fault a technician can fix, its a number port issue

Hmmm lets hope not. Kinda need the number live 😞

Could you explain a little more on what could be the issue with the Port over? is it something like they havent finished porting it over? something related to the Bi-Directional comm?
