Did you mean:

My landline automatically called my sister twice during the night, since VOIP switchover.

I have just had a message from my sister that she had two calls from our landline during the night.

How can this happen?

How many other calls has it made?

How do I see the call log?

How do I stop it?

Ironically I recently tried to cancel our landline altogether but because of Bundle pricing it was cheaper to keep it with all options removed. Think I will revisit this.

Hi @mikebhm

Thanks for posting and welcome back to the community.

How very odd. Can you do me a favour as I want to check something, can you ring your own mobile from it and just confirm the right number appears?

Best wishes,

Thanks for quick reply John.

I have just done as you requested and all seemed normal. When you said "confirm the right number appears".....appears where?

The correct number (my mobile) appeared on the landline handset screen.

So if you phone your mobile from the landline, on your mobile phone, does the correct landline number appear?

Yes my mobile shows the call as coming from my landline number, correctly.

Thanks for coming back to me. Can you try the other Telephone port in the router for me? Then monitor it see if it happens again? A crossed line is seemingly ruled out by the above.

There is no dial tone when phone plugged in to other port on the router, so I can't repeat call my mobile form the landline.

If I call the landline from my mobile I hear the ringing tone on my mobile but nothing is happening on the landline. I can't answer the call.

can I pick up on the other questions in my first post....especially:

Can I view a call log anywhere?

Would simply unplugging the phone from the router stop such events ? (since we don't want the landline anyway)

Thanks

You can certainly view the call log in your online account.

It may have just been a tripped switch or something as nothing comes up even on Google for it tbh.

Yeah you can unplug it if you don't want the actual landline - I appreciate your comments earlier, I'm the same, it's cheaper to have it in the bundle but I've got no physical landline here.

UPDATE

My sister (and husband) have come back to us very apologetically to say it is NOT our number that called them in the night!

I am very sorry for this false alarm and appreciate the excellent response.
