Moved house, joined Virgin but phone number not transferred

I've just joined Virgin Media from Plusnet when I moved home.   When I signed up for VM I asked for my old telephone number to be transferred but that does not appear to have happened.   How can I get this to happen?

Welcome to the community and thanks for posting.

 

I have been able to locate your account and can see that there is nothing currently raised for the number port to take place.

 

Please could you confirm that your telephone line is still active with Plusnet as we can only port active lines as per Ofcom regulations.

Thanks for getting in touch.   I've finally got through to Plusnet and my old account with them has been closed.   So I'm assuming that I now have to use the phone number you allocated me.

Any chance you know what has happened to my old phone number?

phone numbers can only be ported is both the new and old line is active with no cancellation request on the account. If the line has been cancelled the number will of gone back into the pool for someone else to get after a time.

You won't be able to request the number back
