Message on docsis when line is engaged

Trying to ring my mother this morning I got a message that the person I was calling "isn't around at the moment". Not knowing what this meant, ie is the phone off the hook, is the internet down......... how would VM know she is not around?

I called in to see her only to find that she had been on the phone. The message is therefore misleading and should say that she is on another call, in the same way that the old system gave an engaged tone. Is there anywhere that the messages which may be given by the system are detailed and the meanings explained? She has an auto dialling phone with a panic button and it would be useful to know what message to look out for to indicate that this will no longer work.

Re: Message on docsis when line is engaged

Sounds like the home phone free voicemail service as that's only thing that would play out a message, though not sure why it would be on the Hub based line after the change over when it wasn't on the separate cable home phone.

You can get this switched off via Customer Services if it's not needed.

Re: Message on docsis when line is engaged

Thanks for that,  I'll turn the voicemail off when I'm there tomorrow and test to see I get an engaged tone when I ring, knowing the phone is in use.

Cheers

Steve
