Re: Landline work for Dial up connection

Hi Pastorey,

Thanks for posting and welcome to our community :

It's a cable modem not DSL so you would be unable to use dial up.

Can you please elaborate on what you mean?

Re: Landline work for Dial up connection

The OP is using a dial up analogue device not an internet modem. These lines should support Fax machines & Credit Card readers, the latter of which I think is what the OP is trying to use

Virgin BB TV Landline. Freeview/Freesat HD, Virgin Mobile, Tesco Mobile. Cable customer since 1993

I'm a Very Insightful Person, I'm here to share knowledge, I don't work for Virgin Media. Learn more

Re: Landline work for Dial up connection

So it's a 56k modem that just needs a standard phone line to dial a host to receive fax/internet tone the supplier needs to send a download to it but the machine keeps dropping equipment a new modem and software load has been done on the machine and we are still seeing issues however we have never run a machine through a virgin fibre hub before

Re: Landline work for Dial up connection

Hi Pastorey,

Thanks for getting back to us. I'm afraid that we can't really comment on third-party equipment. However, if the machine is designed to work with a standard phone line, it is unlikely that it would be fully compatible with our Hub.

Kind regards,

Laurie

Re: Landline work for Dial up connection

In theory the ATA built into the hub should enable your cash machine dialing to work, but if analogue dial-up is not the way forward look instead for an IP-based or wireless solution.
