Landline unable to maintain dial/ring tone to make/receive calls

On our wavelength


I have noticed since yesterday than my landline does not maintain a dial or ring tone to make or receive calls.

There is static and it cuts out.

No problems are listed for my area so it may be a connection outside? I have tried unplugging and trying another port to no effect. Looks like I will need an engineer visit please unless you can see from your end a problem and junction boxes in the area.

Thank you for your post and welcome back to our community.


I am sorry to hear about the issues you are having with the land line.


Are you plugged into the master socket? It will have a larger socket and contain a logo of Virgin Media, NTL, Telewest or Nynex. 


Any extension sockets will be smaller and have no logo.

Sorry for delay. Yes I have tried plugging it into the master socket in my house and the problem is unchanged.

There is no logo as it was already there when we moved in years ago.
