Landline problems

When we try to make a call on our landline phone we dont get a dial tome and keep getting the message "call already in progress". We cant receive calls either at the moment. Running a service status results in "proves inconclusive". Struggling to get through to virgin tehcnial team. Any ideas on problems or tips?
