Landline problem - goes dead after message when dialling out

When I dial certain numbers on my landline I get the following voice message "Thanks, we've removed the last incoming call from this line" and then the phone goes dead.   The affected numbers I have detected so far are 4 local landline numbers and 1 mobile number.  The landline numbers include a doctor's surgery and a taxi firm.  I have contacted VM 3 times about this and they have been no help at all.  They say there is a local issue which should be resolved within 24 hours but there is nothing on their website to indicate an issue.  I first noticed this problem 2 days ago.  I have hit a brick wall and would like to escalate this but I can't find anything on their web site with details on how to contact them other than dialling 150.  Score zero for customer service!

Hi @DMM1

Thanks for posting and welcome to the community.

Very sorry to hear of the telephone issue.

I can see you've spoke to the team today and booked an engineer visit in.

Please let us know how it goes.

Best wishes.

The technician was unable to fix the issue on site and has passed the problem to the appropriate team.  He tried various things and has ruled out a fault with the router or my phone.   He called customer services who put forward a ridiculous theory that the fault lay with the numbers I was trying to call and asked if we could find out who their providers were!   I have since tried other numbers including the local council, a leisure centre and a bowling club with the same results.   I'll chase it up again in a few days if I haven't heard anything.   The technician left me his number and he said he would take it up on my behalf to save me having to go through everything again with customer services.

Hi @DMM1

Thank you for your reply. I am sorry to hear you are still having issues with this 😔 Please keep us posted with this and if you do not hear back we can chase this for you.

Thanks,

Zoie

The issue has mysteriously been resolved without any VM intervention.   I got a follow up call this morning and the person I spoke to was unable to give any suggestions for what caused the problem.

Hi @DMM1,

Thank you for your reply, I am glad your landline is working. 📞😊
I am sorry our team were unable to give you more information on this, did they advise if it was an outage or issue with your services?
Thanks,
Zoie

They have no idea what caused the problem but there was no outage

Apologies again DMM1, we would advise keeping an eye on things, if you do have any issues please do not hesitate to reach back out.

Regards

Paul.
