Landline not recognised

Rr100
Tuning in

Hello

posting this on behalf of my father. When I ring his landline it doesn’t ring and just says ‘whoops you might like to check that number and try again’. Has anyone had experience of that before? He is not technically able and has paid for gadget rescue who said they would ring him today on his mobile but they haven’t! Please can someone let me know what I can do for him?

Hi @Rr100,

Thanks for posting, and a warm welcome to our Community Forums.

I'm very sorry to hear your father is currently experiencing problems with his landline. Is this happening when other numbers attempt to call your Father's number? Are there any other error messages read out when trying to ring from another device?

Does your Father's landline show a missed call, or ring as though there is an incoming call? Has he recently moved to Virgin and brought his number with him?

Cheers,

Hello Reece

thank you for getting back to me so quickly!!

yes it happens when his friend tried to ring and when I’ve tried to ring from both my mobile and my own landline. No other error messages it jusT says the one I posted below. No it doesn’t show missed calls or ring at all. No he’s been with virgin for well over a decade.

He’s also got gadget rescue but he’s having trouble ringing them from his mobile as normally he’d just ring from the landline. Please let me know what I can do it’s a real life line for him.

Thank you

Hi @Rr100,

Thanks for the hasty reply to this, and the additional information you've provided. To confirm, is his landline plugged into the back of his Hub, or a wall socket? Has he received any adapters within the last few weeks? Has the landline ever worked previously, if so, when was the last time it worked (roughly)?

In addition, your Father can get in touch with Gadget Rescue directly, by calling 0800 014 7398.

Cheers,

working perfectly when I rang him last night

he has tried ringing those but the call failed and he’s now having trouble getting through to them hence why I’m posting on his behalf

what can I do from here? Can I request a technician?

Hi @Rr100,

Thanks for the additional information there. I'm going to need to take a closer look into this for you both. Please look out for my message in the top-right, purple envelope.

Cheers,
