Landline not active

I had my new broadband and phone newly installed in late July , Sky sent across our landline number to Virgin on the 9th of August and on that date our landline cannot take or make calls therefore people cannot make contact with us. 

I contacted customer services at Virgin and the girl advised she has passed on the fault to the relevant department and should be ok in 24 hours , this is now the 3rd day and still cannot make or take calls can someone please advise the current status on this and when it will be resolved please 

Since I am a new customer hopefully this will be resolved quickly
