I'm sorry to hear you've had an issue with your landline service for a few months now. The issue you have described sounds like something called a 'ring trip'. This is where the handset bell seems to ring once and then cuts off. You're right, we will need to schedule in an engineer visit for you so this issue can be resolved 🙂
