Landline free voicemail

I have just set my voice mail to use the standard greeting, but when I test it my phone rings and rings but does not go to voice mail.

Can you confirm, do you have any other pieces of equipment plugged into your landline set up at all?  

Has the free voicemail service ever worked for you? 

Have you made any changes to your landline set up recently?

I do not have any other pieces of equipment plugged into your landline set up.

This is the first time using free voice mail. Just wondering maybe do I have to get it activated in some way?

I have a new landline phone which has an inbuilt answering service.

Hi,  I'm looking to use Virgin Media free voicemail service.  I have a BT phone which I use 1571 to receive voicemail service.

I have sent the request to have the Virgin Media free voicemail investigated on your service and applied. Please do let me know if you still aren't able to access your free voicemail service in 24hours time and we'll take another look at this.
