Landline fault

My landline has no dial tone.  The phone rings when an incoming call is made but the line is dead when I answer.  Please help . My account [REMOVED]

Welcome to our community forums and thank you for your first post.

Sorry to hear you are having issues with your landline.  We can understand this is not ideal and we want to best help. I have had a look at our systems and everything seems in order. Just to confirm, have you checked your wired connection to see if they are secure and in good condition? Are you using any extensions and are they secure?  Also, are you having issues with any other services too?

Thanks for replying. My phone sockets were fitted by ntlworld engineers  (not an amateur fix)  via an external entry point ( not linked to my hub)

all connections seem in order

the phone rings when someone calls  but line is dead when I answer it.

to be honest I rarely use my landline so can’t say when the fault first appeared
