Landline - can only make calls intermittently

Though i rarely use the landline, recently i have found that more often then not, I am unable to make calls from my landline. When i dial, i get a single tone where it seems the call connects, then i just hear echo of my voice or background noise. 

sometimes, it take 8 to 10 redials before the call connects. Was very unwell and was trying to call 111 and could not get through until almost a dozen attempts.

Thanks for posting, and sorry to hear you're having some issues with the line. 

Can you confirm for me how your phone is connected? Is this via wall socket or the hub?

Thanks for confirming, this will need a technician to attend and look into further as it may be an issue with the power levels for the landline.
