Landline Dead

jka94036
Superfast

Reported via 150 on 1/1/23 that my landline is dead, total loss of service since the evening of 31/12/22.

Bought a simple phone from Argos to rule out an error with my existing phone, but landline still dead. My connection is via a wall socket not hub.

Although service status shows no issues, I cannot report the loss of service and tech will not be out until 4/1/23 pm.

Seems to be one problem after another with VirginMedia lately as far as my services are concerned, getting very cheesed off. And yes I was using polite language there.

Hi jka94036,

Thanks for your post and apologies to hear that your landline isn't working. Whilst we can't offer a 100% fault free service, we do promise to fix faults as quickly as possible.

When you run through the online checks, if it advises you need an engineer then it means we are unable to resolve the issue remotely and the system itself will offer you the next available appointment. This automatically raises a loss of service on your account so you don't need to do anything further.

Please pop back and let us know how the visit goes and if you need anything else, you know where we are.

Many thanks,

Hi

Landline came back on last night 2/1/23, great !

No point in tech as everything seemed fine, yet another big mistake

However it’s totally dead again this morning.

No issues showing on service checker, means my mum 89 years old can’t contact me

whats going on ?

Hi @jka94036

I am sorry to hear that.

I have taken a look at things from our side and can see you have an engineer visit booked.

The engineer can check all connections for you.

Please do pop back to us and let us know how the visit goes.

Hi

Although I have a tech visit booked, have discovered something very strange

I have no dial tone, can’t ring out, however if I ring my landline via my mobile I get the ringing tone on my mobile but landline doesn’t ring . Also on my landline phone it has a display of called numbers and there is my mobile number !

I have tried the same thing with the simple phone I have just bought and the same thing happens except the new phone doesn’t have a display.

Just wondering if anyone else has had this ?

Sorry to hear about this.

If you have checked the service status page and there is no outage, I could only advise for you to wait for the engineer that has been booked. As they would be able to check and fix this for you if needed.

Cheers,

Ryan.

Very attentive tech yesterday has changed our landline connection to using the hub .

All seems ok at the moment 🤞

Hi jka94036,

Thank you for reaching back out and for your post, glad to hear the Technician came and and completed your Landline Switchover and that everything seems fine.

If you do need any further support, please do not hesitate to reach back out.

Regards

Paul.
