I recently had my landline transferred to broadband and a bit new to it all. I want to swap the phones around such as in upstairs and downstairs. Can I just unplug them from the mains sockets and transfer them over? I won't touch the router connection. Thanks..

Most modern cordless phone systems allow you full control of the answering machine functions from a remote satellite handset, without having to be standing next to the base station.
It might be necessary to enable some extra features on the cordless system (which might be off by default) such as missed call notification or message waiting notification (which can be a beeping sound or a notification light or icon on the display screen of the phone)
