Land line not working

Can anyone help, when you phone my landline it rings but none of my phones ring in my house I've tried other phones in the wall socket but get the same nothing and can't get through to virgin media thanks

No I can't make or receive calls 

Okay thank you. 

 

Do you have any other pieces of equipment connected to your phone socket? This may include:
 

  • Other telephones
  • Personal Computers
  • Faxes
  • Modems
  • Satellite TV digiboxes
  • Micro-filters
  • ADSL modem or router

Main wall socket in front room has one phone plugged into it and two spurred from it , one in kitchen and one in main bedroom

Update - engineer came Tuesday 20th Dec : I now have a dialling tone and can phone out but still can't receive calls he said it would take 24hr for the transition to take effect its not worked and can't receive calls and the router has been updated as well  can you help many thanks
