Answer service on my land line stopped working some months ago. I thought it was the telephone or telephone base, so I have purchased a new land line telephone and followed all the set up instructions.
Still no answer machine working.
Could this be a fault with my incoming line or a setting that has been altered by Virgin ?
Sorry to understand you're having some issues with your answering machine/handset. As nick_london has mentioned, if you have our voicemail service on your line (1571) this could be over-riding your answer machine.
If you call your number and do not answer - does it go to Voicemail? If you call 1571 are there any messages there?

Well you can only do it by calling customer services on 150 from your Virgin Media phone. Please note if you dial in to 1571 once it’s been turned off, this may reactivate it so please don’t call the service once it’s been deactivated.
