Hi,
I have recently agreed to a home phone and broadband package with Virgin Media, which will begin on the 29th of November. My currently existing phone + broadband package is with TalkTalk and is due to end on the 18th of November. I told Virgin that I wanted to retain my existing home phone number, which they informed me would be no problem.
I am now wondering what will happen when my existing package with TalkTalk ends on the 18th of November. As there is an 11 day gap between my existing package ending and new package starting, will my existing landline phone number still be transferred as planned or will it be lost over this 11 day period?
Thanks

Hi @regoi1234,
Thank you for your post and welcome to our community forums. We're here to help.
If you're looking to bring your landline number across from another provider to us then it'll need to be active at the time that your service begins with us. If it's not active at that time then we unfortunately cannot transfer it across.
I'd recommend speaking with your current provider and explaining the situation. They can then ensure it remains active for you to be transferred successfully to us.
Let us know how you get on.
Thanks,

Hi Zach,
Thanks for the reply.
I've contacted TalkTalk who have agreed to keep the existing contract active until the changeover date of 29th November. I've seen on the Virgin website that it states that a number transfer could take up to 10 days to complete. Based on this, does the contract need to be active for longer than this? Or is the contract only necessary to be active up until the 29th?
Thanks

Hi @regoi1234,
Thank you for the update. Your previous provider may terminate the landline services with them once we've completed the transfer for you, but that'd be down to their discretion so you'd need to discuss that with them.
To ensure it goes through without any issues, I'd recommend keeping your landline service live with them until the transfer has been completed.
Thanks,
