When signing up to my virgin and agreeing an installation date in Sept. I was under the impression i could keep my existing land line number. Having just given 30 days notice to BT i have been told that a working line takeover has not been requested by Virgin and that my existing number will be released. Is it possible to rectify this situation?
Do not give notice to your existing provider. This is a very good way of losing your number. The correct procedure as per the telecom regulators instructions is for the new provider to arrange the number port INCLUDING the cancellation of the account with your existing provider. Giving notice yourself will block your number port from going ahead.
