Is It The Weather

Do Virgin Media monitor their boxes.  Had booked an engineer as I had a crackly phone line, line appeared to rectify itself so cancelled, I now done this three times, but one thing I have noticed is that during bad weather my phone line is worse.  If the issue is the outside box and not mine, why do I need to book an engineer, as each time I run a test it states that all is fine.  Hopefully I will have a few days of crackle free phone.

Re: Is It The Weather

Hi

The bad weather can highlight a fault on a phone line

The fault could be anywhere from the phone handset to the DSA/MUX

wet weather will cause a problem if any of the cables are slightly damaged as they could be earthing, which would cause a crackle on a line. Techs carry a meter which can check this

I have even attended a few faults where the customers pets had pee’d on the phone socket and over the months or years the copper components had corroded

Best get this checked out
