Installed Hub 4 and no phone dial tone

Hi,

I just joined VM and this week received my Hub 4. It's installed and the wifi works but there's isn't a dial tone? The phone is plugged into the router and the admin page show's the status of the phone is 'ready' in green .

Any ideas?

Also .. it was installed on Tuesday so it's been well over 48hrs now and still no tone

You are using the top socket in the pair of grey sockets (TEL) on the back of the Hub, aren't you? Just a thought.

the Hub 4 is in modem mode .. will that make a difference?

No. You'll need to wait for a member of the VM Forum team to pick this up. Bank holiday might be problematic.

Are you using the VM-supplied adapter (RJ11 plug to BT socket) to connect your phone or your own lead (RJ11 plug to RJ11 plug) to do away with the adapter?

Is your phone set to 'tone' dialling and not 'pulse' (either a switch on the phone case or within menu settings)? Setting might not be present at all for a new phone.

Have you tried with a different handset?

I'm very sorry to hear about the issue with your Landline. 

 

I have been able to locate your account and it does look as though all is showing okay. 

 

Have you been able to try an alternative handset on the machine?

Hi,

I found the solution .. just swapped my existing cable, even though it was plugged into the Hub using the VM adapter .. swapped it with the VM supplied cable and now it works .. hooray!!!  Thanks for the tip guys. Now have realised that my landline number has changed. It was a VM number previously .. any idea how I can keep my old number?

Did you port the number out to another company or has it always been with us?
