Did you ask for the port your old phone number to Virginmedia when signing up?
Who was the phone number with previously ?
A number port can only happen if both lines are active without out a cancellation order on them, as per the rules/guidelines from Ofcom.

Welcome to our community and thanks for posting. Sorry to hear that you have not been able to retain your original landline number when you moved providers.
As our community valued community member DJ_Shadow1966 has asked did you request the original number to be ported across to us when you signed up for our services?
As advised you would need to have an active account with your old provider for us to transfer your original landline number across to us. Is this still active?
