Hub 4 Telephony & Fixed line

Hub4 recently installed

Q. telephony - is it possible to activate this as well as the existing fixed line service?  or would I need to have a separate number... ?

It would useful to have VOIP service through the hub as well as the existing telephone line.

Re: Hub 4 Telephony & Fixed line

If you have the telephone activated via the hub then the older fixed line copper cable is no longer available it is either hub connection or old copper cable, once you are on the hub connection VM will not re-activate the old copper line as by the end of 2025 all phone lines will be like this even BT who are also closing a lot of exchanges.

You may be able to activate the 2nd tel connection on the back of the hub, this will mean another number and extra costs.

The connection on the hub isn't actually VOIP it is something called 21CV, the hub does the conversion of the data sent down the cable to the local green box to a standard phone.
