Re: How to set up voicemail on landline if phone not working

Hi Al15WD,

Thanks for posting and welcome to the community forums! Apologies for our delayed response and for the landline issues.

Can you please tell me a bit more about the issues you're having with your phone, do you have no dial tone or it is something else?

We aren't able to help with any package changes from here, I'm afraid. So if you are looking to add one the voicemail feature, feel free to pop us a text on 0753 305 1809 or call us on 0345 454 1111 and the team will gladly get that added on for you.

Kind regards,

Beth

Re: How to set up voicemail on landline if phone not working

There has been a fault on my landline for days. There was a "Apologies for inconvenience" sign on the nearest telephone pole, but it has recently been taken away. Details:

RJ Utility Services Ltd  |  Working on behalf of BT OpenReach / Telent  |  Emergency phone 0800 526015  |  Permit ref. ...  |  Street ...  |  We apologise for any inconvenience caused

Presently, I have no dialling tone; just crackling.

I want to divert landline calls to my mobile phone until the fault is fixed. How do I do it?

(If that is not possible, I want calls to my landline to go to voicemail.)

Re: How to set up voicemail on landline if phone not working

Hi Al15WD,

Thanks for your message. Sorry to hear that you are still having issues with your landline. If the message on the telephone is gone and there is nothing posted on our service status page regarding any faults in the area [you can check here virg.in/service], Then there may be an issue specific to your landline connection and the voicemail might not be working if this is not enabled as part of your services.

I'll send you a PM to get your account details, so I can have a closer look.

Cheers,

Corey C

Hello

The note on the telegraph pole has nothing to do with Virginmedia as VM do not use the Openreach system.

Re: How to set up voicemail on landline if phone not working

I think my phone is connected by a circuitous cable up to where the BT Openreach wire from the telephone pole enters the house. Is there a way to check without tearing the floorboards etc up?

Is there a way to connect my phone via my broadband superhub (VMDG480)?

Re: How to set up voicemail on landline if phone not working

Thanks for the response Al15WD

I've looked into the local area and it appears that there are no outages currently showing in the local area.

Can you tell me if you have multiple handsets in the property? Are they all cracking?

Are you using a handset that's plugged into the main socket or is it in an extension socket that you're plugged into?

Have you been able to set up voicemail

Kindest regards,

Re: How to set up voicemail on landline if phone not working

David_Bn,

I have just one handset. There are two sockets: one in the study and one in the hall. Both are crackling when the handset is plugged into them.

I have not set up voicemail, because I can't find out how to do it when the landline is faulty.

I would prefer to divert calls to my mobile while the fault is fixed.

Any chance of an answer to my earlier questions? –

I think my phone is connected by a circuitous cable up to where the BT Openreach wire from the telephone pole enters the house. Is there a way to check without tearing the floorboards etc up?

Is there a way to connect my phone via my broadband superhub (VMDG480)?

Cheers,

Alan W
