Have received a text to give a date for the home phone switchover. I have my telephone downstairs at the front of the house and my hub upstairs at the back of the house. I do not want my phone upstairs so would it be possible to have the hub moved (free of charge)as it no longer needs to be upstairs.

Hey @Jmcw,
Welcome to the Community Forums and thanks for the post.
With the Switchover as it is something we are required to do we are able to move your Hub free of charge on this occasion, the letter you have received should provide you with more information on this and the next steps to go with.

Ask VM (via the VM forum team on here) to modify your home phone wiring so you can use your existing landline extension sockets via the phone connection from the VM hub.
VM should offer to do this free of charge for you as part of the switchover process.
Make sure they make modifications to your phone wiring so you can keep each piece of equipment in the same place (rather than the offer which sometimes crops up on here to move the hub to a different location)
