Home phone displays "Please check line chord"

From yesterday (25th March around 12:00) the home phone stopped working. It displays the message in the subject line but has a very crackly noise when handset picked up. Initially you could dial the home phone from a mobile and it would be ringing on the mobile but not the house phone, any ideas?

Hi

 

Have you tried another handset as it could be your handset. Also, if you have phone extensions that are connected to master, disconnect and try again with phone direct into master

Unfortunately don’t have another handset to try. This is a single phone and not an extension from a master

Your best off trying another handset to rule this out, then if problem still persist then would need an engineer to fix the fault

I have the exact same issue as OP,  get crackly noise and sometimes I can ring from a mobile but the home phone does not ring at all.

Please investigate this as you clearly have an outage somewhere.

Mines been down since Wednesday!

London/Romford area by the way.

Our home phone issue is exactly as you describe and also started on Wednesday, we are in the Wirral near Ellesmere Port. Looks like a system issue somewhere but all checks that I can do via Virgin Help show no issues.

Same checks say nothing is wrong, 

The check phone line comes and goes but it doesn't work at any time.
