Getting The Message "Check Phone Line" On Home Phone Line.

My phone line is completely dead, I can't make or receive calls. Status check said system OK. My landline phone has the message “Check Phone Line” and it is still there after all the routine checks. Status check test still shows no fault. Tried phoning on mobile but got cut off at considerable expense which is annoying to say the least. Tried to book an Engineer but nothing works online. This is getting rediculous it is bad enough getting through to Virgin at the best of times but has been impossible this last year due to restrictions.
Could someone please book an engineer for me asap?

Does this happen on every phone socket in the property
Does this happen when trying the line with a different handset (if you have one available)
