Firstly, is moving the phone into the living room, reasonably close to the hub, acceptable? If so then that'll be the easiest option. Otherwise you need to contact VM and request a technician be sent out (this will be free of charge) to run a phone cable between where the hub is and where the existing phone socket is.

As @jem101 has mentioned, the easiest way is to simply have the phone close to the hub and connect the phone directly to the hub via the adaptor.
