Fibre Phone network engineer appointment

Hi,

We have received a Fibre Phone Adaptor in the last week.  I have not yet received a letter.  I understand from speaking to Virgin Media today that they are going to change my landline to the fibre network on the 6/10/2022.

The problem is that my phone is in the living room, and the VM hub is in my office which is some distance away. I do not want to move the hub and I do not want to move the phone, as I do not want the home landline in my office.

I understand that engineer appointments are being offered so that wires can be installed so the landline can be connected to the hub without moving the equipment? Is this correct?

When speaking to VM on the telephone today, I was only given the option that I will have to move my telephone or hub, or cancel the landline service. I was not told over the phone that I could make a appointment for an engineer.

Please can you advise me how to book such an appointment because I cannot find out how to do this?

Thanks

Mike

Hi @Mikeosuk,

Welcome back to our community forums and thank you for getting in touch with us regarding your landline switchover.

We want to do our best to help regarding this. Your landline will now be connected via your hub as seen here https://community.virginmedia.com/t5/Virgin-Phone-Switchover/gh-p/Switchover As this is the only way for the landline to work, we advise using wireless landline sets where the hub and the main landline device are connected and then the other wireless landlines can be spread around the home.

Thanks,

Thank you for getting back to me.

I assume from your reply that you are no longer offering engineer appointments to connect my hub and landline?

You have suggested that I use wireless landline sets.

I have not heard of these and I assume that they will not be cheap, and will be an expense that I cannot afford at the moment.

I am not happy about this as I was not aware of the change-over until I received the fibre phone adaptor and I have not had a letter explaining what it is about, and now I may have to pay out for new wireless landline sets that I do not really want.

We hate to see you feel this way and we truly want to best help @Mikeosuk

We do offer appointments to connect your hub and telephone as seen here https://community.virginmedia.com/t5/Virgin-Phone-Switchover/gh-p/Switchover You can also find out about the landline switch over here https://www.virginmedia.com/help/landline/switchover

You can find the wireless landlines commonly as the landline switch over is something that is taking place across most networks in the UK Future of Voice – Homepage
