Re: Faulty landline - phone doesn't ring

Hi neil064

Welcome to the Community and thanks for posting.

I am very sorry to hear you are experiencing some issues with your phoneline.

As you are able to make and receive calls, we would need to rule out a fault with the handset.

Are you able to check a different handset on the line to see if it rings?

Also, are there any settings on the handset that will allow you to adjust the ring volume?

Let us know and we will be happy to assist further.

Thanks

Re: Faulty landline - phone doesn't ring

 Hello Natalie_L

I have replaced, an old cordless phone with 2 extra handsets with  a new set.

Both old and new units have the same problem.

checked all the settings on the new phone (ie it has the ringger sent to on.) the intercomm function and can be heard.

The ring volume is set to max. The screen well show that someone is calling (if spotted you can aswer the phone).

But the phone does not ring.

Thnk you.

Re: Faulty landline - phone doesn't ring

Thank you for getting back in touch and confirming the checks you have completed, it is appreciated.

Can you please double check that the cables leading to and from the handset are secure and without damage?

This will include the ports on the wall if possible.

If they are fine, do please let us know and we will continue to assist 🙂

Thanks

Re: Faulty landline - phone doesn't ring

I can confirm that i used the new cables that came with the new phone.

All cables are in properly,

The wall socket is, old but did contain a master socket inside when i removed the front facia panel.

I checked the phone on this socket as well still the phone does not ring.

Thasnk You.

Re: Faulty landline - phone doesn't ring

Hello neil064,

Thank you for checking everything over

I can look into this for you as we will need to get a Service Technician out
If you don't mind
I will need to send you a private message to pass security
If you can check the purple envelope top right of your screen that would be great
Regards

Re: Faulty landline - phone doesn't ring

Hi Gareth_L

The engineer found a fault at the exchange box at the end of our street.

I am waitng now, for a bt/openreach engineer to replace a faulty part, in the exchange box.

As a side note we now cannot make  or receive phone calls.Hopefully the replacement part will fix this as well.

I thank you for your assitance on this matter, hopefully everything will be working in the next 48 hours. Once the Problem has been fixed.

Thank You

D Wiggins
