Faulty landline Continuous engaged tone

It is impossible to receive or make calls from my Virgin landline: instead of a dialling tone there is a continuous engaged tone.  If you ring the landline from an external phone it appears to ring normally as far as the caller is concerned, but the phone does not ring in practice.

Hi claret4,

Thanks for posting and welcome to our community 🙂

I'm sorry to hear you're having some issues with your landline.

Can you confirm how you have it connected? Is this via your hub or the wall socket?

Alex_Rm

Wall socket

Clare

Thanks for confirming Clare 🙂

Have you received any type of adapter in the post to switch the line over to connect via the hub?

Alex_Rm

OK, I've found the adapter, plugged in the phone and it's working OK now.

Today I have the same problem continuous engaged tone. When calling for support get cut off. I have wall socket connection that has always worked.

Also a bit concerned that Virgin Are sending out adaptors, why are these needed ?

Thanks

Hi @Colinntl

Thanks for posting on our community forum and sorry to hear about the issue with your landline.

The adaptors are for the migration to our 21CV service where the landline will be ran through the hub, have you received your landline adaptor?

No adaptor, why is the landline changing? I have seen no notification,

My landline is now working again.

Hey Colinntl, thank you for reaching out and confirming this to me.

We are in the process of swapping all our customers over the new VOIP line which is replacing the old standard copper line.

You can find out about this via this link. Thanks
